December Meeting

We decided to have our December Christmas party meeting in late November. One less thing in December to take care of. We had great time with the gift exchange. There was some great stuff and more than one gift was passed around more than once. We all brought some yummy eats and had a great time just visiting. This is the last month for Mercy Border Quilt. We have had a great time working on each others quilts. We have learned a lot about handing over the wheels to others and letting their creativity work for us. We learned about adding borders of many sizes to a quilt. We have decided to do a block swap for next year. We will each decide on a block pattern from Quilters Cashe website. Then we will add instructions to our block choices.  When the year is done we will each have 12 blocks made by others for a quilt. How fun! We also decided to add a few other projects. I will be hosting a quilt along, Double Delight by Bonnie Hunter. Lots of little pieces. Rula will be breaking down a pattern into 12 month chunks, Count Your Blessings by Briarwood Cottage.

Let's get started on our last Mercy Border Quilt parade.

We had a few ladies that did not have quilts to pass around last month Karyli, Shannon, Nicole, Sheryl, and Nikki.

 Dawnel's quilt has one last dark border on it. 

Sherri's quilt I did not get a last picture on. She has decided not to come back in January. She is going to take some time off.

Dawnel added a white and red border to Rula's quilt. This is a great quilt!

 Shigae added a cream and brown border to Donetta's quilt. What a fun set of colors.

 Karyli added a very fun and wide border to Mandy's quilt. Love the black squares around the pinwheels.

Even though Nicole did not have a quilt to be passed around Gaylene made some pillows to go with her quilt. That was so sweet of her.

Shannon made small paper-pieced four patches for Shigae's quilt. The green is a nice touch.

Sherri added a small white border to Gaylene's quilt. This would make a fun 4th of July blanket.

We have a nice little extra. Mandy 1st finished quilt. These denim patches belong to all of her family. Shigae helped her to put it together and it is huge and heavy. Great job Mandy!!



To My Dear Quilting Friends!

Oh how I love you!  I am so touched that you did all those squares for me, the quitter of the group!  It was so lovely of you to think of me!  As I pulled out the box to show Chris when he got home, I got a little misty at your gift.  He said, "You are crying over fabric?"  Before I even got the explanation out!  He is such a boy.  He just doesn't understand! :)

I am feeling better.  Less stressed out.  Maybe I can join you again soon.  I really have missed you. I love laughing with you and learning things from you all! 

That quilt is going to be so beautiful!  I am excited to put it together and put it on Chandler's bed! I love it that we can think of each other every time we look at our Club quilts!!

Had a blast at the Treasure Valley Shop Hop!  Thanks ladies!  I even stayed within my budget!

Here is my "Mercy Border Quilt" all finished and bound. With my children. I love my quilt and all my PQA friends who so lovingly added borders through the year. Quilted by Brenda Thompson, she is talented and I always love the wonderful job she does. Shigae :o)

November Meeting

We had our November meeting at Dawnel's house. Karyli taught us how to open the little bundle of fabric in the back of a four patch and iron it flat. It will make its own little four patch. By ironing it this way it will decrease the the bulk in the back. What a great trick. We talked about our Christmas party and what kind of things we wanted to do. We decided on a 12 Days for Christmas for those that wanted to sign up and a White Elephant Exchange for everybody. Shigae will be sending out emails for sign-ups. On Thursday the 10th those that can will be meeting to help Connor out with sorting the fabric that has been donated and to help make kits for his Eagle Scout Project. We are getting closer to have all of the blocks made for the Sudoku Quilt. We have decided to donate it to Connor. We also have a few new people who are going to join us, another Sherri and Mandy's mother, Margret, and Mandy's daughter also. Welcome ladies!

Nikki added a fun green border with pink and white in the middle of the strip to Mandy's quilt.

Mandy added to only one side of Sheryl's new quilt. Cute half square triangles.

Donetta added a matching blue border to Rula's quilt. Wow!

Sherri added a solid yellow border to Karyli's quilt. Karlyi decided not to have her quilt go around one more time. It is very long.

Nicole added a bright blue border to Sherri's quilt.

Gaylene put a multi colored pieced border on Donetta's quilt. She used all of the other colors that can be found in the quilt.

Karyli added a cute border to Nicole's quilt, squares at the top and thin side borders. Nicole decided that her quilt was big enough and will not be starting a new one.

Rula put a white border with colored squares on Shigae's quilt. Sweet.

Sheryl added three borders to Shannon's quilt, great colors. Shannon decided that her quilt was very large and that it did not need anything else added to it.

Shigae added a cute yellow and then a yellow/purple border to Dawnel's quilt.What a sweet baby girl blanket this is becoming.

Dawnel placed a red, white, and blue piano key border on Gaylene's quilt.

Because we are so close to the end of the year, Nikki decided not to start a new quilt. So Shannon did not work on any quilt this month.

October Meeting

Our October meeting was at Shigae's house. We had such a good time. We all learned about Pinterest there. What a fun site. Nicole taught us how to make Yo-Yo's with the Clover Yo-Yo Maker. What a fun little tool. 

Sherri added a small purple, large ruffled strip, and small purple borders to Dawnel's quilt. What a wonderful job!!

Sheryl added the blue border with the pink and blue pinwheels in the corners to Shigae's quilts. Wonderful fun 30's fabric.

Donetta put a wide brown border on Sheryl's quilt. It adds a great look to the quilt.

Sheryl then retired her boot quilt and started another one.

Karyli added only a top and a bottom to Rula's quilt. It helps to make the quilt longer. 

Shigae added three borders to Sherri's quilt. Very nice. We loved the pieced outer border.

Gaylene added a wonderful pieced border to Karyli's quilt. Look at all those triangles!

Shannon had Nicole's quilt. She made fun strips and squares.

Nicole added the red border to Gaylene's quilt. How patriotic! 

Mandy added a wide brown border to Donetta's quilt. Then she added a blue border with cute little flowers.

Rula added only a small brown border to Nikki's quilt. Nikki then decided to not add anymore borders.

Nikki added a white border to Shannon's quilt. Wow it is getting big!

Dawnel add a simple black and white border to Mandy's quilt. What a great effect it had on the look of the quilt.

September Meeting

We had our September meeting at Donetta's house. She had yummy goodies for us. We discussed ideas for our Christmas party. We decided to do the White Elephant gift exchange again and then also to maybe do a 12 Day of Christmas exchange. We also talked about our next years projects. Did we want to do a block exchange or some kind of Block of the Month? We will keep chatting about our options.

Also Dawnel's son came to our meeting to talk with us about his Eagle Project that would be starting soon. He had decided to make 50 quilts for a nearby hospital. He talked about what he had in mind and if we would be able to help. Of course we said we would. What a great idea Connor!

Donetta added a sweet purple border to Dawnel's quilt.

Mandy added more denim with red corners and more flowers to Shigae's quilt. Look how big it is getting.
After some thinking Shigae has decided that her quilt is just the right size. So she started up a new quilt.

Karyli added a light thin border and then a bold plaid border to Sheryl's quilt. It looks great!

Gaylene added to Rula's quilt the black border. She also appliqued all of the fun patches. Cool idea Gaylene!

Nicole added a simple green print border to Karyli's quilt. It give the eyes a place to rest after the piano key border.

 Shannon added the two white and one blue border to Gaylene's quilt. Very patriotic!

Nikki added a soft purple border to Nicole's quilt. It is wonderful to see these three colors coming together nicely!

Dawnel continued on with the scrappy theme of Shannon's quilt. So colorful!

Shigae made a big border with cool corners on Nikki's quilt. Beautiful!!

Sheryl added the three thin outer borders to Donetta's quilt. Wonderful how the white frames it!

Rula added the pale yellow and red border to Mandy's quilt. So pretty!

Sherri had been a part f our group for a while. She has enough confidence now to start off a quilt. YEAH! She loves the looks of Batiks. How pretty!

We're Famous!

August Meeting

August's meeting was at Rula's home. We had a great and crazy meeting. Lots of visiting. Rula had just remodeled her house and gave us a tour. Very nice!!  We handed in our Sudoku Squares but one of us was missing so we did not divide them and hand them back out. That will be done for the meeting in September.

One of our members that has been with us since the beginning but has not been able to come to the meetings was there that night, it was so good to see her, HELLO Sherry!! Karyli showed us how to make hexagons using the English Paper Piecing Method. She then handed out hexagons for all of us to keep.  

We passed our Mercy Border Quilts back to different people at the end of July's meeting so we each had someone else's quilt to work on. It was very fun after having our own quilts for a month.

Dawnel worked on Nicole's quilt. Look at all those diamonds. Plus pinwheels in the corners.

Shannon decided to add a piano key border around Karyl's quilt. She even had some of the same fabrics that had previously been used. She added solids and patterned fabric.

Karyli worked on Shigae's quilt. She added some left over piano pieces with some solid squares and made a very cheerful border.

Sheryl worked on Nikki's quilt. She added a small brown and orange border. Simple but beautiful.

Gaylene added a solid blue border with orange pinwheels in the four corners. It causes a nice "eye break" after the colors of the previous border.

Nikki had Gaylene's new patriotic block. She added a multi-colored border. It has little stars and strips, very fitting for this kind of quilt.

Nicole worked on Rula's quilt. She added the red just like she was asked. It is just perfect! She added cute little 9 patches on one end of each row.

Mandy added a cute pink ruffle. The 3D effect is very sweet. Then she added a pink with multi-colored polka dot border. This will be a great girl quilt.

  

Shigae felt Shannon's quilt needed some solids after all those crazy colors. She added red all the way around and two different colors for the sides and top and bottom. It matches the inner solid border.

 

Rula had Donetta's quilt. She added a zig-zag border. What a great border. It helps to bring out the white in the middle.

Donetta added onto Mandy's quilt a simple white on white border. In each corner she added some patchwork pink squares. This helps give the eye somewhere to rest after all the pinks.
