April Meeting

April's meeting was a fun simple meeting. 

This is a T-shirt quilt that Rula made. It is huge!! 

Sheryl brought her finished Mercy Border Quilt from the year before. It is so pretty!!

Shigae made a block for Sheryl.

Shannon made a block for Donetta.

Nicole made a block for Shigae.

Dawnel made a block for Nikki.

Sheryl made this block for Rula.

Rula made this block for Karyli.

Karyli made this block for Shannon.

Last month with Donetta leaving our assignment was for each member to make her more blocks. These are the blocks we received. 

Thank you ladies for stepping in and helping out a fellow quilter. We will miss you Donetta.

March Meeting

Everybody is working right along on the Count Your Blessing handouts from Rula. Shannon has not made very much progress on the Double Delight quilt but Gaylene has. She has done wonderful work!! Good job! Donetta is dropping out of PQA due to health reasons so as a group we have decided to finish her blocks and give them to her when they are finished. We will miss you Donetta. 

Shigae made a block for Nikki.

Shannon made a pinwheel block for Dawnel. She is asking for any pinwheel pattern.

Rula made Sheryl this cute block.

Due to Donetta's health she did not make a block for Shigae.

Nicole made a block for Rula using Christmas Tree fabric.

Sheryl made Donetta this sweet yellow block.

 Dawnel made Karyli this scrappy block.

Gaylene is trying to figure out what to do about her block so no picture this month.

Karyli made this block for Nicole placing the green all on the outside. 

Gaylene made a matching block for Shannon.

Sheryl made this quilt for her Grandson. It is all 3D. You can move the hair on the animals. It was so soft.

Shigae brought her two quilts from last year finished. They are fabulous!! 

February Meeting

We had a wonderful meeting and everybody was so excited to see their block patterns made by their partner. 

Shannon made Nikki a simple 9 patch with blue, cream,brown and one red.

Donetta made Dawnel a bright block with a black background.

Sheryl made a sample of her block using white on white with a subtle blue print.

Here is the block that Dawnel made for her.

Sheryl has made a block for Shigae using Shigae's white on red fabric and a plain white background. All of her blocks will be exactly the same.

Karyli made Rula a card trick with the large assortment of Christmas fabric that Rula provided. 

Donetta made a sample block. An easy 9 patch with two colors. One being a print then a solid matching color. 

This is the block Rula made for Donetta.

 Gaylene made a block for Karyli with a scrappy look of blues with black and white squares. 

Nicole made Gaylene's block. There are a lot of half-square triangles in there. Gaylene is not sure if she is going to be keeping this block.

Nicole made a sample of her block. She is asking for everyone to use their scraps. She would like earth tones brown, cream, and green in any combinations.

Shigae then made this block for Nicole.

 

Nikki made this block for Shannon using the fabric Shannon provided. All of these blocks will be exactly the same. The pattern will create interlinking squares.

 Dawnel finished the Sudoku Puzzle Quilt. She even tied it. It looks so great!! Now off to a suitable charity. 

New Year~New Projects January Meeting

New Year~New Projects

We are all so excited! After a successful year last year we can't wait to see were we will be at the end of 2012. We had our meeting at Rula's house and started out our year off by getting a gift from Shannon. She passed out clear craft boxes to put our blocks in. We talked about the block patterns and how we would like them done. Some of use are asking for others to use their stash to make the blocks and others will be providing some or all of the fabric. We then swapped block patterns. Shannon provided a border and sashing for our Sudoku Quilt. Dawnel will take the quilt and add them. Rula and Shannon passed out step 1 of both of the quilt alongs. Shannon, and Gaylene will be doing Shannon's quilt along and almost everybody is doing Rula's.  Shannon showed us how to use Half Square Triangle Paper. You use 2 pieces of fabric and the sewing paper.Sew on the lines and then cut apart. When you are done ironing them open you have perfect half square triangles. She made a wall hanging with the pieces she made.

December Meeting

We decided to have our December Christmas party meeting in late November. One less thing in December to take care of. We had great time with the gift exchange. There was some great stuff and more than one gift was passed around more than once. We all brought some yummy eats and had a great time just visiting. This is the last month for Mercy Border Quilt. We have had a great time working on each others quilts. We have learned a lot about handing over the wheels to others and letting their creativity work for us. We learned about adding borders of many sizes to a quilt. We have decided to do a block swap for next year. We will each decide on a block pattern from Quilters Cashe website. Then we will add instructions to our block choices.  When the year is done we will each have 12 blocks made by others for a quilt. How fun! We also decided to add a few other projects. I will be hosting a quilt along, Double Delight by Bonnie Hunter. Lots of little pieces. Rula will be breaking down a pattern into 12 month chunks, Count Your Blessings by Briarwood Cottage.

Let's get started on our last Mercy Border Quilt parade.

We had a few ladies that did not have quilts to pass around last month Karyli, Shannon, Nicole, Sheryl, and Nikki.

 Dawnel's quilt has one last dark border on it. 

Sherri's quilt I did not get a last picture on. She has decided not to come back in January. She is going to take some time off.

Dawnel added a white and red border to Rula's quilt. This is a great quilt!

 Shigae added a cream and brown border to Donetta's quilt. What a fun set of colors.

 Karyli added a very fun and wide border to Mandy's quilt. Love the black squares around the pinwheels.

Even though Nicole did not have a quilt to be passed around Gaylene made some pillows to go with her quilt. That was so sweet of her.

Shannon made small paper-pieced four patches for Shigae's quilt. The green is a nice touch.

Sherri added a small white border to Gaylene's quilt. This would make a fun 4th of July blanket.

We have a nice little extra. Mandy 1st finished quilt. These denim patches belong to all of her family. Shigae helped her to put it together and it is huge and heavy. Great job Mandy!!



To My Dear Quilting Friends!

Oh how I love you!  I am so touched that you did all those squares for me, the quitter of the group!  It was so lovely of you to think of me!  As I pulled out the box to show Chris when he got home, I got a little misty at your gift.  He said, "You are crying over fabric?"  Before I even got the explanation out!  He is such a boy.  He just doesn't understand! :)

I am feeling better.  Less stressed out.  Maybe I can join you again soon.  I really have missed you. I love laughing with you and learning things from you all! 

That quilt is going to be so beautiful!  I am excited to put it together and put it on Chandler's bed! I love it that we can think of each other every time we look at our Club quilts!!

Had a blast at the Treasure Valley Shop Hop!  Thanks ladies!  I even stayed within my budget!

Here is my "Mercy Border Quilt" all finished and bound. With my children. I love my quilt and all my PQA friends who so lovingly added borders through the year. Quilted by Brenda Thompson, she is talented and I always love the wonderful job she does. Shigae :o)
